JBS Greeley moves to vaccinate employees starting March 5

United Food and Commercial Workers announced Wednesday that JBS Greeley employees will be able to receive vaccinations for COVID-19 beginning March 5.

More than 2,500 employees will be able to get vaccinated at the Greeley plant, located at 800 N. 8th Ave.

At the beginning of the pandemic, the company had a COVID-19 outbreak that left six dead and took five months to resolve. There have been nearly 500 Local 7 members at the Greeley plant who tested positive for the virus since March 2020, according to a news release.

“Too many lives have been lost at JBS Greeley because of COVID-19,” said UFCW Local 7 President Kim Cordova in the news release . “The Union has never stopped fighting for each and every one of them because we recognize them for what they are — essential.”

State officials estimate that there could be 300-350 vaccines administered per hour with shifts spanning over two days.

This move to vaccinate JBS employees comes from Phase 1B.3, opening up vaccination opportunities for food and agriculture and manufacturing industry workers.
